Visit Għar Dalam – Cave of Darkness – the oldest prehistoric site in the Maltese islands which testifies the presence of Ice Age fauna and brings us in contact with the islands’ first inhabitants around 5200 BC.
Visit two of the Megalithic Temples considered to be the oldest, free- standing monuments in the world and recognised by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
Ħagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples built around 4000 BC and 3000 BC, both having their astronomical alignment. An elliptical hole in one of the chambers of Ħagar Qim, marks the sunrise of the summer solstice. One of the temples of Mnajdra is a calendar in stone, seems to have been built to mark the sunrise of the Equinoxes and Solstices. The reasons of how and why the temple builders captured this phenomenon remain unknown to us till today.
Enjoy breath-taking views of the surroundings and the scenery of the islet of Filfa standing out in the vastness of the open sea. Discover how this small rocky platform has a long and interesting history that is enhanced with myths and legends.
